HISTORY
It all started with a small wooden brick, then there were more, in plastic too, and finally an entire LEGO® toy factory. The LEGO name is a contraction of the Danish words ‘leg godt’, meaning play well. Then an airport, Billund, was built, followed by a theme park, LEGOLAND®, and finally a hotel. After that things really took off.
In the first 8 years Hotel LEGOLAND® doubled its capacity from 32 to 64 rooms. And in 1986, six new conference rooms and three new floors were added to the hotel. Hotel LEGOLAND is expanding its conference facilities overall and a great number of companies have held meetings and conferences there over the years. The hotel is now a modern 4-star hotel and 5-star conference centre.
As a further step towards achieving its ambition of being Europe’s best experience and conference hotel, the hotel has developed a unique teambuilding and event universe in which the LEGO brick is employed as an effective tool. Professional knowhow and the LEGO brick are used to bring participants into play, creating space for knowledge sharing and creativity.
The Business & Bricks concept can be found nowhere else and is part of what makes Hotel LEGOLAND a unique Danish conference centre.
The hotel now has a large conference centre with everything in the way of state-of-the-art AV equipment. There are two auditoriums, 31 conference rooms and the 1,800 sq m Multihouse, two modern restaurants and a total of 199 bedrooms, some of which are specially equipped for our business guests.
In 2005 Hotel LEGOLAND became part of the international Merlin Entertainments Group, joining some of Europe’s top hotels.
